Fine Arts

The fine arts program at Wayside Christian School is a well-rounded program that enhances the overall atmosphere of the school while developing the natural gifts, talents and abilities of the students.

We have a four octave hand bell set, ranging from 7th to 12th grade, that is played by various groups in our school . We also have a three octave hand chime choir that our 3rd-6th graders play in which they learn some foundations of music and are able to apply those skills and knowledge immediately. Ms. Krista Compton, using her piano pedagogy degree from Appalachian Bible College, is the director for all of these groups.

We have both an elementary and a high school choir. Students learn the fundamentals of singing early in elementary and then apply advanced techniques as they move up to the high school level. There are many opportunities for them to sing throughout the year.

We also offer both an elementary and high school band. Ranging from brass to woodwinds, and strings to percussion, there is something for everyone who
wants to learn music through band!

Students also have the opportunity to develop their talents in a number of other categories, including art, photography, wood working, metal working and speech.

Each spring, the students participate in the BCSA State Fine Arts Competition. Those who win at the state level are eligible to compete at the AACS National Competition, which takes place at Bob Jones University.

Elementary students are also able to compete in a day Fine Arts with other BCSO Schools.

Come be a part of one or all of these groups and use the gifts God has given you!
