Life's Reflections

Sunday, August 29, 2010

We come to the end of the life of Elijah.  In II Kings 2:1-14 he spent his final moments on earth with his successor, Elisha.  They walk and talk with each other and Elisha is able to make a final request.  If you had one request concerning your life, what would you request?

Repercussions

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Elijah appeared to be off the scene for a while, probably training young men in the school of the prophets.  I Kings 21:1-29 gives us a picture of the kingdom of Israel during the reign of Ahab and Jezebel.  God brings repercussions to their sin which we will view today.

God's Call

Sunday, August 1, 2010

God was dealing with Elijah concerning discouragement.  Elijah needed rest, food and a time to listen to God.  In I Kings 19:15-21, God tells Elijah to resume his duties.  One important duty was to prepare for the future.  The calling of Elisha means God's work will continue.

Discouragement

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Elijah has just won a great victory on Mount Carmel.  He now expects a great revival to sweep the land.  Jezebel has other plans for the nation and for Elijah.  In I Kings 19:1-14 we find that Elijah is truly a man like us.  He becomes discouraged when the people's reaction is not what he expects.  There are times of discouragement in our lives.  Let us see how to deal with discouragement.

Persistent Praying

Sunday, July 18, 2010

God has proven Himself before the nation and there should be great revival.  In I Kings 18:41-46 God keeps His promise and sends the rain.  Elijah first must ask and he is very persistent in asking.  How persistent is your prayer life today?

The Day of Reckoning

Sunday, July 11, 2010

It is time for the nation of Israel to make up their minds.  Elijah in I Kings 18:17-40 brings the nation to a point of decision.  You are either for the God of Israel or for Baal.  We must come to that same point in our lives.  We are either for God or for this world.  What decision have you made?
